Costs

This will bring you down.  You probably shouldn't read it.  It's mostly me writing about the things I think and keeping the things I want to keep.

I have had a number of occasions in the past few months to dwell on war and on killing.  The psychology behind it has always fascinated me, ever since I was young.  I picked up an excellent book on the subject, called On Killing.  Though the author has obvious biases about certain things, the psychological findings and the raw power of the observations we've been able to make over the last several hundred years of warfare stand well by themselves.

Your pizza

I have to sit about 5 feet from the screen to type this since I just got an eye exam and my pupils are dialted to the size of saucers.  That's just a fun fact and has nothing to do with the rest of this post.

Vegas today

108 degrees.

I realize it gets hotter elsewhere in the world, but holy crap this isn't right.  I go outside, try to take a breath, and my lungs just refuse to have any of that.  They're all, "No no, this simply won't do.  We can go without for a while.  Find air that didn't just come from the depths of hell; maybe inhale over a campfire or something."

My client: "Did you just say "huurrkkk-"?  I don't think that's a good sound to make when you walk outside."

Me: "Well I... agh... hhhh....pft."

Client: "Better."

Sometimes I do things

I was cleaning up my phone and found a few pics from the past couple of months.  :

Behind the cut you'll find a couple pretty ones and one that has moved me to think.  I did a little compiling of history after.  Some of it is a little heavy, so you may want to skip it should you not be in the mood for a little solemn reflection.
